From 2019, farmers will no longer receive payments for areas with natural or other specific constraints.
The Ministry of Agriculture, starting 2014. – 2020. planning period implementation, has made such a decision in consultation with farmers organizations
Taking into consideration the limited budgetary possibilities, it was decided that payments for areas with natural or other specific restrictions would be paid for areas covering a larger territory of Latvia (about 90% of the area), but for a shorter period – until 2018. If the payment were retained until 2020, it would be introduced in a much smaller part of the territory of Latvia.
All the other types of support are still available.
Estimated support for Single Area Payment (VPM) 76,80 EUR/ha, Greening payment (ZAL) 44.38 EUR/ha.
