On May 8, the Rural Support Service (RSS) started to pay state support for the crops and plantings affected by the drought in 2018. Farmers will receive 4.91 euros per every hectare of arable crops, vegetables and perennials.
The government decided to grant such support in order to reduce the damage caused to farmers by the long-lasting drought, which was classified as a national natural disaster in 2018. 4.4 million euros will be paid out in 2019 from the state budget.
State support shall be paid for the area of crops declared in the single area payment application for 2018 if the total area of eligible agricultural land is at least one hectare and was recognized in 2018 as eligible for the single area payment or payment for the small farmer support scheme.
