For Growth on the Earth

The 2022 agricultural workers’ season has ended successfully

From April 1 to November 30, 2022, the ninth season of seasonal agricultural workers was held, when it was possible to register seasonal agricultural workers in the Electronic Application System of Rural Support Service.

Farms in Latvia, which operate in the fruit growing and vegetable growing sectors, as well as employ agricultural workers in seasonal work, use this system to record employees.

A positive aspect this year is the significant increase in the number of farms. In 2022, there were 438 farms, since 2021 the number has increased by 57%. A total of 3,500 seasonal agricultural workers were employed this year, which reflects a similar picture as last year.

Also this year, the largest number of farms was registered in Zemgale and Northern Vidzeme – 116 and 99 farms, respectively. In 2022, farmers had the opportunity to employ seasonal agricultural workers also in the work of picking stones in sowing, planting or grassland areas. Data from the RSS show that this year a total of 76 farms registered seasonal agricultural workers in this field.

For more information on registration and opportunities for seasonal agricultural workers, see the Seasonal Agricultural Workers menu on the RSS website.
